Got My Fix Today!

After having the past two days off, I got back into the gym today and man, did it feel good! I worked out my legs and went back to using heavy weights to build more muscle. I think my favorite exercise today would have to be the squats on the Smith machine.  You know, it took me almost six weeks to finally muster up the courage to get on the Smith machine? I had no idea how to use it, and I was scared to death that I would mess something up or just look like a fool. Anyway, bodybuilding.com has instructional videos for every workout you can imagine, and you can choose to watch the female version of the video, which I LOVE. So, I literally watched this video over and over again.

So, my Livefit Trainer (Take 2) starts in six days. Monday the 16th! I've been struggling with the idea of starting over, because the first four week you do no cardio...ZERO! I've been doing five days a week of cardio, and now I have to stop completely. This is really going to make me twitch, however, I'm going by the book. The premise behind the no cardio is this: to simply work on building muscle. A lot of people get so caught up on cardio that they burn all the calories needed to build muscle. I think I mentioned before, I'm really going to focus and push extra hard on my arms this time around. I feel like I fell a little short on my arms, but no worries, they're going to get the attention they need soon enough. Oh! I found this picture today, and it's going to be my drive for my arms.

Um, yes. I'd like some guns, please!

I hope you all have a great rest of the day! I'm about to head to Fort Campbell for a few days to meet my new nephew (he'll be here tomorrow!) and to spend some time with my beautiful nieces and my sweet nephew. Take care!

  1. Great job! I love the Smith Machine, too! Have you looked into pyramiding your weights at all? Specifically for building mass, it can be a great way to strength train.

  2. Julie, I've played with pyramids a little bit. I'll probably look into those more!

  3. Yay! I'm so glad you have a blog! I'm excited to follow your process this time around. I just started seeing a trainer at my gym. It's been awesome to learn new techniques. Maybe we can work out together sometime at Hill...

My biggest challenge at the gym is ANYTHING having to do with the plank. Gets me. Every. Time.

  4. Mary, YES. We should meet up at Hill. Awesome job getting a trainer and hitting the gym! I'm a full addict now.

I do a little "planking" after my push-ups, but that's about it. My biggest challenge is the eating. I'm struggling to get the right about of carbs, proteins, and fats...and still getting all my calories in. It's like a huge math problem EVERY day.
